Holiday Rental Cottage Description |
L'Orfeu is a spacious and well equipped 3-4 bedroomed self catering holiday cottage sleeping 6-10 people. Ideal for a family holiday it has its own large garden and patio with sitting out area at the front.
It is in a rural hamlet of 2 houses (our holiday cottage and our french neighbours' cottage where they live) and a barn. It is Ikm to the lively and pretty town of Jugon Les Lacs which is located in a small valley, on the shore of a beautiful 4km-long lake.
It is a half hour's walk to the village or 5 minutes in the car for your croissants in the morning. There you will find bars, banks and shops and its fun to wander through the town to find streams disappearing under houses and flower-fastooned bridges in the summer.
L'Orfeu is perfectly located for exploring this wonderful and varied region of France. The coast is about 20 minutes away where you will find endless stunning beaches and cliff top walks. In and around Jugon Les Lacs there are waymarked walks, cycle routes, swimming pool, tennis courts, water sports centre, angling and cultural activities. The river port of Dinan with its ancient ramparts and cobbled streets is only 22km away and an absolute must to visit.
When we bought our French cottage it had been in the same family for around 100 years. We are not sure when it was built ... but certainly sometime before that! Restoration has been an ongoing process. We have converted the haylofts upstairs and completely renovated the downstairs. You will see that there are many exposed stone walls and the original bare chestnut flooring still exists upstairs. The walls are several feet thick! We love the character of the cottage and hope that you will too.
It now has three bedrooms upstairs and the Salle downstairs makes the 4th as it has a 'clik-clak' -the french equivalent of a sofa bed. It can sleep up to 10 people and gives you the opportunity of staying in an old cottage (several hundred years old!) that has been restored and renovated to offer a wonderful traditional Sejour - the perfect living room with lots of space for the kitchen, dining table and sitting area around the wood burner. Upstairs there are three roomy bedrooms and a lovely bathroom. Outside there is a garden at the back of the holiday cottage and a patio and sitting area to the front. There is off road parking for your cars.
